My Background

I am a photojournalist and Pulitzer finalist whose documentary work has been featured in The New York Times, The Sunday Times Magazine of London, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Georgia Museum of Art, The Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, and the permanent collection of the Portland Art Museum.

My Approach

I approach weddings with a quiet presence and an eye for authenticity. In practice, this entails moving with a calm demeanor and a desire to remain unnoticed, finding small moments of intimacy in the midst of public celebrations.

My Goal

While environment and ritual play an important part in my story telling, I also focus on the personal connections and latent emotions brought to the surface by such pivotal moments in life. I feel my task is to anticipate and document moments as they naturally occur, without direction or interference. My ultimate goal is a highly personal book that is both beautiful and meaningful, authentic to the moment and revealing of those depicted.
